Thanks to all those who made the Beyond the Bottom Line conference (March 24 – 26 in Nashville) possible, especially Ann Gibson, Gary Dodge and Arthur Blinci. My keynote topic was Managing and Communicating Change, and the audience of about 200 had some excellent feedback and questions. They were particularly interested in dealing with change resistance, which is always tough. One technique that often works is assigning resistors key roles in the change, and earning their buy-in organically. Okay, there’s a lot more to it than that; so check out John Kotter’s 8-Step Process for Leading Change, or the excellent workbook based on Kotter’s model, The Heart of Change Field Guide by Dan Cohen.
