Dr. Jimmy Carr was truly one of the all-time greats. Ask anyone who came in contact with him in the nearly 40 years he spent in Searcy, Ark. Uncle Jimmy was honored last week when a street was renamed for him in his adopted hometown. My Aunt Stephanie and cousins Jim and Tom (4th, 5th and 6th from left) were there for the ceremony.
Jimmy Carr impacted the lives of thousands of college students and many others who knew him through his work, community leadership or church involvement in Searcy and Tallahassee, Fla. (In fact if you meet anyone who attended Harding University between 1970 and about 2005, they’ll have a Jimmy Carr story to tell. Try it some time.)
Next to my father, Uncle Jimmy was the most influential man in my life.
There’s a nice piece on Uncle Jimmy by Warren Watkins in the Daily Citizen of Searcy.
